Introduction
Scroll is a zk-rollup (zero knowledge), an L2 (layer two) network that batches and posts transactions to Ethereum as the L1 (layer one). Scroll aims to create a similar environment to developing on Ethereum or other L2s by creating a zk-rollup-compatible version of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
Most rollups currently use an optimistic rollup system powered by fraud proofs, this means that all transactions will have to go through a soft finality period before being confirmed. This needs a party to disprove a transaction through the fraud proofs. However a zk-rollup uses zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs), also known as validity proofs, to require every transaction to be proven true to be confirmed. This results in lower times to hard finality than optimistic rollup systems.

Chain Information
Scroll’s zkEVM has become the most compatible zkEVM for development. This allows for fewer changes to development for projects through a bytecode-compatible zkEVM, which allows for an easy onboarding experience for projects from an EVM environment to Scroll. zk-rollups provide a scaling and increased security through zk proofs.
This allows for a stronger base plate for building applications. Additionally because the zkEVM is bytecode compatible, no extra audits are required for a contract that is secure on the EVM. This reduces auditing costs for development teams.
Scroll has been enabled by Halo 2, a proving system to generate cheaper and more versatile proofs to ensure that the underlying network is scalable. By attaining cheaper and faster proving this effectively helps speed up the network and provide cheap transaction costs, allowing for more network activity at a lower cost.
Investors
Scroll has raised $80m in funding over multiple rounds. Investors include Polychain, Variant Fund, Sequoia Capital China, OKX Ventures, Newman Capital, Bain Capital Crypto, Qiming Venture Partners, Moore Capital Management and IOSG Ventures.
Audit Reports
Scroll has received 22 audits to date (found here). These audits cover Nodes, the zkEVM, the bridge, the verifier and rollup contracts. Additionally, Scroll has a bug bounty open on ImmuneFi (found here).
Loyalty Program Rewards
Marks will be rewarded to users who deposit the eligible asset (weETH) into the selected protocol (Mitosis’ Vault on Scroll) during upcoming Scroll Sessions.
Synergies
Mitosis EOL gains the ability for assets to be deposited on Scroll’s L2 for future epochs. Additionally, this makes it possible for Mitosis EOL to accept EOL Allocation proposals from projects on Scroll. This helps enrich the competition for EOL while connecting it to Scroll. The integration helps to increase the depositors on Scroll.
By working with the Mitosis ecosystem early Scroll projects can begin to develop positive relations with the Mitosis community and help in retaining the support of Mitosis during future Expeditions and EOL governance processes.
Conclusion
The addition of Scroll as a network that will support future Expeditions and EOL Candidates will help superpower the growth of Mitosis with zk-rollups. By providing a great environment for development, this positions Mitosis for alignment with a suite of great projects and more to come in the future.
